Feature & Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee and Allison Can Read and gives bloggers a topic to discuss each week while discovering new blogs!
This week's question: What drove you to start book blogging in the first place?
To tell you the truth, my wife drove me into blogging. She was sucked in YA a few years back and has had a couple blogs here and there. She always seemed to be part of some kind community. That was something I wanted to be in with my gaming world so I decided to give the blogging thing a try. It didn't work out too well. I felt like I was talking to myself and it felt pointless. I decided to give up. Then, my wife got the bright idea of us combining our blog ideas together to make one blog for geekery everywhere. Before we got the blog off the ground, I started getting sucked into YA. I then decided that we should just create a blog mostly for YA and such but with occasional nerdy thing it is as well. It's only a few weeks yet I feel like I'm part of the community as well and I've had alot of fun with. :D
What a terrific story! My husband is really into gaming as well (which I also love-- we are eagerly awaiting left for dead 2 DLC!) but I'm the major one into YA. I look forward to your geekery!

I think it's so sweet that you blog together. Although my husband says that blogging is my personal space- the whole Room of One's Own kind of thing. Some place where I'm just me and not mom or wife. Just me. But I've gotten him semi-into-reading after 20 years of marriage. So maybe we'll blog together after all...doubt it.
ReplyDeleteI'm following you through GFC. My FF answer is here: http://365-books-a-year.blogspot.com/2012/07/feature-and-follow-friday-5.html
I'm new to blogging too. Just started in May.
I'm a fairly new blogger as well, and I agree wholeheartedly -- the community is amazing, and I can't believe I didn't start blogging sooner. I'm looking forward to reading random geekery on here :)

Nick,
ReplyDeleteNice job getting started and I thank you for your comment and follow. I am following you back.
Though I have question what games do you blog about exactly? For I am in to the Gaming world myself and would love to test games or write review on them I could get new games for wii, PC and others. This book blogging came about though wanting to be Game Tester if it was possible to do.
I used to mostly blog about my Xbox 360 games that I picked up on my old blog but I gave that up for this blog with my wife. I may occasionally review one on here but with new games being $60 a pop, I can only pick and choose between those. I could always review older games that I grab used though. :D Books are a lot cheaper for sure.
DeleteAww so exciting. I'd love to have a co-blogger, but the fact that you blog with your wife is another awesome thing to do together.

Blogging with your wife is so sweet! I totally agree that the book blogging community is very kind and friendly, there's just so many friends out there who can share your tears and joys over the same book, it was, and still is, the best experience of my life :) Have fun blogging!
